MSNA introduces our new logo and tagline, and revised Mission, Vision and Values. Our members work hard and care deeply about children’s health and access to food. We thank you for the support you have given us to help achieve our goals.

MSNA Mission: The purpose of the Minnesota School Nutrition Association is to provide our members opportunities for professional development and to build relationships that make a difference in the lives of children.

MSNA Vision: We will change the face of Child Nutrition:

  • Quality nutritious food choices will be available and accessible at no charge to the student as an integral component of the education day.
  • Society recognizes the value of quality school nutrition programs.
  • Childhood hunger ends on our watch.

MSNA Goals:

  • Make an impact on child hunger
  • Provide more certification and training for nutrition staff
  • Eliminate the charge for reduced price lunches

Nutrition Integrity: Nutrition is our top priority. School nutrition programs are working hard to provide a greater variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, more whole grains and healthier a la carte offerings. Every school district has implemented a wellness plan.

Kindergarten Milk: The Minnesota Kindergarten Milk Program provides a carton of milk to kindergarten students each day. Milk prices have risen sharply, and state funding no longer covers the cost. MSNA supports increasing state reimbursement for kindergarten milk from the current 14 cents per carton to 20 cents per carton. In the past, when state reimbursement has fallen significantly below the cost of milk, school districts have dropped their participation in the Minnesota Kindergarten Milk Program. This increase will provide an incentive for school districts to continue to participate.
