How to Become SNA Certified

School foodservice and nutrition personnel who wish to apply for certification must:

  1. Fill out the Certification Application form available in Adobe Acrobat format
  2. Obtain documentation to establish that you meet certification criteria. Such documents may include a high school diploma/GED certificate, training certificates, and/or college transcripts.
  3. Enclose the certification fee with the application. Certification fees are listed on the application.
  4. Submit the completed application, certification fee and required documentation to the address on the application.
  5. SNA reviews and approves the application. Incomplete applications will be returned. SNA will review and process all complete applications within 4-6 weeks.
  6. When SNA has processed the application, you will receive a certification packet, which includes:
      • a certificate indicating the certification period;
      • instructions and procedures for certification renewal;
      • a wallet-sized certification card; and
      • a CEU tracking form

    Certification is issued for a three-year period and is renewable every year, assuming that you satisfy the criteria for renewal
