The Practice of Gleaning, or Second Harvest-Opportunity for all MSNA Members!

Since ancient times, there has been a practice of gleaning, or second harvest, at the end of every growing season. The farmer brings in the crop, but he leaves some food for the hungry in the community. Volunteers are invited to carry on this generous tradition. Spend crisp autumn days harvesting apples to be given to local food pantries.
This could be a wonderful outreach opportunity for MSNA members. Second Harvest Heartland Minnesota orchards’ apples are arriving early this year. Volunteers can sign up simply by going to http://www.2harvest.org/helppickapples
